Pune: Nine officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of the Encroachment Eradication Department and six regional officers, have been issued notices for delaying actions against unauthorized constructions, sheds, hotels, pubs, and bars in various parts of the city.
The municipal administration has also instructed those who have encroached on riverbanks to remove their encroachments.
Three rivers, Pavana, Indrayani, and Mula, flow through Pimpri-Chinchwad city. There has been significant filling and encroachment along the riverbanks.
Recent heavy rains have led to flooding in these areas, necessitating the relocation of over 5,000 residents. Additionally, the issue of unauthorized constructions, sheds, and encroachments on pedestrian paths in various parts of the city has come to the fore.
The Encroachment Eradication Department of the municipal corporation had been turning a blind eye to this, leading to notices being issued to nine officials, as informed by Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale.
