Pune: The Municipal Corporation of Pimpri-Chinchwad is preparing for a significant reshuffling of its workforce, with 437 employees who have held the same positions for several years now eligible for transfer.

This move comes as part of an effort to comply with the 2015 policy set by the Mumbai High Court, which mandates regular transfers within municipal services to prevent stagnation.

Among those due for transfer are 34 officers from the 'A' and 'B' categories, 332 employees from the 'C' category, and 71 from the technical category.

These employees have been stationed in various departments, including engineering, health, administration, and accounting, for an extended period.

Despite the policy stipulating that transfers should occur in April and May, the recent Lok Sabha elections caused delays. The uncertainty surrounding the transfers has now been resolved, with the Municipal Commissioner, Shekhar Singh, instructing department heads to submit details of employees eligible for transfer, as well as those seeking transfers due to personal or medical reasons.

The eligible employees include 29 senior officers, such as executive engineers, deputy engineers, IT officers, and administrative officers, all of whom have served three years in their current roles.

Additionally, five officers have formally requested transfers. The General Administration Department, led by Deputy Commissioner Vitthal Joshi, has confirmed that the transfers will be executed by the end of August.
