Petrol Pump Worker Flees with ₹1.70 Lakh in Cash, Case Filed

Pune: A petrol pump worker allegedly absconded with ₹1.70 lakh in cash that was entrusted to him for safekeeping. The incident occurred on June 3, 2024, at the Shaheed Colonel Prakash Patil petrol pump in Ambegaon, located on the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass.

Suvarna Prakash Patil, the owner of the petrol pump and a resident of Nigdi, lodged a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station. The accused, Satish Baburao Hoke, had been employed at the petrol pump and was responsible for managing the cash collections.

Taking advantage of the owner's absence, Hoke allegedly fled with the money. The police have registered a case against him, and Sub-Inspector Mithare is leading the investigation.

The suspect, identified as Azar Ramzan Sayed, a resident of Bhawani Peth, was apprehended by the police following a tip-off received by Constables Surendra Jagdale and Pawan Bhosale.

The police recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from Sayed's possession, with the total value of the seized items estimated at ₹21,000.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Gove.

The arrest was executed by a team led by Inspector Vijay Kumbhar, which included Assistant Inspector Prashant Sande and several other constables.
