Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) has come under scrutiny for allegedly conducting an irregular admission process, prompting the state's technical education authorities to intervene.

Pune Divisional Joint Director of Technical Education, D. V. Jadhav, has issued a directive ordering the cancellation of admissions that were carried out in violation of the regulations laid down by the State CET Cell.

This move follows a complaint lodged by Yuva Sena’s Deputy Secretary, Kalpesh Yadav, with the State CET Commissioner Dilip Sardesai.

Yadav’s complaint accused PICT of sidestepping established admission protocols and initiating an unauthorized process at the institutional level. According to regulations, institutions are prohibited from admitting students before the conclusion of the official CET admission rounds.

Despite this, PICT announced institutional-level admissions on August 9 and released a schedule for the process. The final merit list was to be published by August 31, with admissions taking place between September 3 and September 5. This premature action led to the technical education department’s intervention.

Responding swiftly, the CET Cell instructed the technical education department to take necessary action, resulting in a circular from D. V. Jadhav. The circular mandates that PICT cancel the admissions in question and provide a formal explanation to the authorities.
