Pimpri: In the upcoming assembly elections, a total of 387,973 voters are expected to participate in the Pimpri Assembly constituency. The average number of voters assigned to each polling booth is 975.
According to Election Officer Archana Yadav, there are 87 polling locations with a total of 398 booths in this constituency, and none of these polling booths have been identified as sensitive.
In preparation for the state assembly elections, the district administration has reviewed arrangements for all constituencies after the Central Election Commission announced the election schedule.
The number of polling stations has seen slight changes since the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for this election will be stored in the strongroom at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Badminton Hall in Nigdi.
Voting materials will be distributed from the Auto Cluster Exhibition Center in Chinchwad, and after the voting process is completed, all materials will be collected there as well.
Once the polling concludes, the EVMs will be transferred to the strongroom at Shiv Chhatrapati Stadium in Balewadi under strict security measures. To encourage higher voter turnout, the Election Commission is implementing various initiatives, particularly in six polling booths spread across three housing societies.
Four polling booths will be established at the Triveni and Riverdale Cooperative Housing Societies and Mhada Colony in Morwadi, and two booths will be set up at the Minister Eternity Society in Kasarwadi.
The constituency has 202,524 female voters, which is 17,109 more than the 185,415 male voters. Additionally, there are 975 military voters and 34 transgender voters.
Spending Cap Set at ₹40 Lakh
Candidates contesting the election are required to pay a nomination fee of ₹5,000 for those from reserved categories and ₹10,000 for those from the general category.
Additionally, the Election Commission has set a spending cap of ₹40 lakh for each candidate. Candidates must keep track of their election-related expenses and submit daily reports to the election office.
To streamline this process, candidates are also required to open a separate bank account specifically for election expenses.
