Pimpri-Chinchwad Science Park and Planetarium have scheduled a series of educational and engaging programs for the local community on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
The three-day celebration, running from September 27 to 29, will feature a variety of activities designed to highlight India's rich cultural and natural heritage while promoting responsible tourism practices.
The event will be held daily from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, offering a unique opportunity for attendees to explore India’s heritage through a photo exhibition.
From September 27 to 29, visitors can view stunning photographs of Indian heritage sites taken by noted photographer Tushar Kodolikar. The exhibition will remain open to the public from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM each day, providing an in-depth look at the country’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
In addition to the exhibition, a series of expert lectures will take place over the three days. On Friday, September 27, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, lectures will focus on the importance of India's heritage sites and the significance of fort tourism, with insights from speakers Anurag Vaidya and Vinayak Belose.
On Saturday, September 28, ornithologist Sushant Pawar will discuss endangered bird species, their conservation, and the role of eco-tourism in protecting these species.
To round off the event, on Sunday, September 29, Vitthal Raikar will present on the topic "Science Bhagirathi's Bhagirath," diving into the importance of scientific inquiry and heritage preservation.
Additionally, for younger audiences, the Science Park will host an inter-school competition on Friday, September 27.
Students from various schools will participate in contests centered around the architectural and historical significance of forts, promoting awareness of the importance of heritage conservation among the next generation.
Nandkumar Kasar, the Chief Executive Officer of the Science Park, has called on citizens, especially those with a passion for tourism, to take part in the festivities.
The programs aim to spread awareness about becoming responsible tourists while exploring the natural and cultural wealth of India. Importantly, all events are free to attend, ensuring that the celebrations are accessible to all members of the community.
