Pimpri: Property Crime Offences Unit of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Crime Branch has arrested two criminals involved in a string of medical shop burglaries committed by breaking open shutters at night.

The culprits, Chaitanya Shivaji Rupnar and Gaurav alias Ganesh Khot, both residents of Chinchwad, were found to be behind multiple thefts in the city.

The arrests were made following a spike in shutter-breaking thefts during the nighttime, leading Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Chaubey to instruct the Property Crime Offences Unit to crack down on these incidents.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Chaitanya Rupnar, an exiled criminal with a history of offenses, was carrying out these burglaries with the assistance of Gaurav Khot, a notorious criminal already wanted for multiple offenses.

Chaitanya Rupnar had been previously exiled from the city, and two criminal cases were registered against him at Chinchwad and Chikhali police stations.

His partner, Gaurav Khot, had a criminal record and was on the run in connection with a theft case registered at Chakan Police Station and an assault case registered at Chinchwad Police Station.

Senior Police Inspector Vijay Dhamal of the Property Offences Unit took charge of the investigation, gathering crucial information and reviewing CCTV footage of the recent thefts.

Police Constable Ashish Bankar successfully identified the suspects through the footage, leading to the arrest of Rupnar and Khot. During interrogation, the duo confessed to stealing from a medical shop in Chinchwad.
