Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Educate Senior Citizens on Cyber Safety

Seniors were provided with crucial advice on avoiding cyber fraud, including not opening unknown links or sharing personal details over the phone.

Pune: In an effort to improve communication between the police and senior citizens, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police held a special event at the Nigdi Police Station to address the concerns of the elderly.

Organized under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey and Joint Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahawarkar, the event aimed at educating seniors on how to protect themselves from cyber fraud.

The event saw the participation of approximately 300 senior citizens, including prominent attendees such as Pimpri-Chinchwad Senior Citizens Federation President Vrushali Maral, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doiphode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Balasaheb Kopnar.

Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi engaged with the senior citizens, listening to their concerns and briefing them on laws and security measures relevant to their safety.

The seniors were provided with crucial advice on avoiding cyber fraud, including not opening unknown links or sharing personal details over the phone, as explained through a presentation by Cyber Cell PSI Sagar Poman.

In addition to cyber safety, the event covered various services available to the elderly, such as the Senior Citizens' Wing, the Damini Squad, Dial 112, Disha Foundation, and the Women’s Help Desk.

Dinkar Gawade also gave a detailed presentation on senior citizens’ laws and their rights, while highlighting the support provided to seniors living alone. The session was moderated by Police Inspector Nigade, and a vote of thanks was offered by Assistant Commissioner Balasaheb Kopnar.
