Pimpri: To alleviate the frequent traffic congestion in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the local Traffic Department has taken decisive steps by identifying 143 strategic points across the city for focused traffic management.
These measures aim to ensure smoother traffic flow and reduce the frustration faced by commuters stuck in long queues of vehicles, especially during peak hours.
As Pimpri-Chinchwad is home to a large industrial area, IT parks such as Hinjewadi and Talwade, and pilgrimage destinations like Dehu and Alandi, the number of vehicles on the road is particularly high.

Factors such as reckless driving and roadside encroachments have worsened the situation, causing daily traffic jams in many parts of the city. In response, the police department has conducted inspections and is deploying additional personnel at the most congested locations to improve traffic conditions.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar, 143 key points have been designated where traffic police will be deployed throughout the day.
The goal is to enforce stricter discipline among drivers and reduce gridlock, while measures such as one-way traffic and route adjustments are being implemented to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles.
Areas like Bavdhan, Talegaon, Chinchwad, Sangvi, Talawade, Nigdi, Mahalunge, Wakad, Pimpri, Hinjewadi, Bhosari, Chakan, Dehu Road, and Dighi-Alandi have all been included in the traffic management plan, with specific numbers of personnel assigned to each.
Senior officers, including the Police Commissioner, have recently inspected several congested spots and issued instructions to tackle the problem. In some areas, traffic routes have been modified to facilitate the movement of vehicles more efficiently.
