Pune: Police from the Crime Branch in Pimpri-Chinchwad conducted a raid on the 'Love Birds' cafe in Ravet on Monday (July 8). During the raid, it was found that the cafe had created partitioned areas with curtains, providing secluded spaces for students to engage in inappropriate and indecent activities.

A case has been registered against the cafe operator for these activities. Police constable Sangeeta Jadhav (37) from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) lodged a complaint at Ravet Police Station.

The case is registered under the Maharashtra Police Act against cafe operator Dhiraj Prakash Mohite (22, resident of Virangula Society, Wakad) and cafe owner Bhagyashree Laxman Dhakne (34, resident of Katkarwadi, Ambajogai, Ujani, Beed district).

The AHTU received information that the 'Love Birds' cafe, located at Shop No. 6 in Pawani Pride on D.Y. Patil Road, Ravet, was providing private spaces for young men and women to meet. The cafe allegedly allowed these students to engage in inappropriate and indecent behavior. The police verified this information and conducted a raid.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the cafe operated without a proper license and had displayed a signboard advertising food sales in a public place.

On inspection, the police found five compartments on the first floor of the cafe, each measuring 3x3 feet and made of plywood, with curtains on the outside and sofas inside for seating.

These compartments were used by college students for inappropriate activities. Consequently, the police registered a case against the cafe operator and owner. Further investigation is ongoing.
