Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has resumed the Pimpri-Chinchwad tourism bus service in time for the Diwali holiday season, encouraging locals and tourists alike to explore the region’s historic and religious sites.
Initially introduced on May 1, 2023, this service was put on hold due to low passenger turnout, leading to a reduction in its frequency and eventual suspension.
However, with the anticipated Diwali influx, the service is back, and PMPML has urged the public to take advantage of it.
Originally, the bus service included trips from Nigdi depot every weekend to popular destinations such as Dehu, Alandi, and Prati-Shirdi Shirgaon.
Despite PMPML’s expectations of a minimum of 35 passengers per trip, low demand led to its temporary discontinuation. The agency, in response to feedback and in light of the festive season, has now reactivated the service, extending it to seven key destinations around Pune, with special emphasis on sites within Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The “Pimpri-Chinchwad Darshan” bus service tickets are available at designated pass centers in Nigdi, Bhosari, and Lokhande Bhavan in Pimpri.
Operating hours for the service are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., providing day-long tours of Pimpri-Chinchwad's historical and cultural landmarks. However, some residents have raised concerns about the high ticket prices, suggesting they may deter ridership.
With many citizens visiting Pimpri-Chinchwad from nearby areas during Diwali, this bus service aims to offer a convenient introduction to the area’s most notable locations.
