Pimpri: Schools and junior colleges in Pimpri-Chinchwad that received partial grants after 2019 are being urged to update their management details to ensure the approval of non-teaching staff positions for the academic year 2023-24. Many institutions have yet to make the necessary changes, putting their eligibility for future grants at risk.
The Education Department had previously instructed all affected schools and colleges to update their management information on the official ‘Student Portal.’
Despite these directives, several institutions failed to comply. In response, the department organized a camp at Anglo Urdu Boys' School, where school and college headmasters were encouraged to make the required updates for the 2023-24 academic year.
Some institutions took the necessary steps, adjusting their portal entries to reflect their grant-aided or partially aided status. However, others remain non-compliant.
The Directorate of Education has issued a final warning to those who have not yet updated their management details. If these schools and colleges do not act swiftly, they risk losing their eligibility for grants.
The approval of non-teaching staff positions will be directly tied to the number of grant-aided students, and any discrepancies could lead to legal issues or staffing surpluses, for which the headmasters will be held accountable, warned Education Officer (Secondary), Dr. Bhausaheb Karekar.
The delay in receiving grants has been attributed to several factors, including incomplete grant proposals, errors in submitted documents, failure to submit audit reports, and missing the March 31 deadline for grant files. Schools are advised to resolve these issues promptly.
The Education Department has indicated that organizing camps and other initiatives to help schools correct these issues could make them eligible for grants. Despite these efforts, there have been reports of clerks refusing to accept corrected proposals.
