Pune: As Maharashtra gears up for the upcoming assembly elections, the code of conduct is expected to be enforced shortly. Against this backdrop, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pune on a two-day tour on September 26 and 27, 2024.
His visit is considered politically significant, as it is seen as the potential launch of the Mahayuti alliance's election campaign. During his visit, Modi will inaugurate key infrastructure projects in Pune.
On September 26, he is expected to officially open the Shivajinagar to Swargate metro line. He will also lay the foundation stone for the underground metro extension from Swargate to Katraj. These projects are crucial for the development of Pune's public transport network and are anticipated to ease traffic congestion in the city.
Later that day, Modi will attend a function at S.P. College grounds, organized by the Shikshak Prasarak Mandali. Following the event, he will spend the night in Pune. Authorities have implemented strict security measures in preparation for his stay.
On September 27, Modi will participate in the "Viksit Bharat" event at the Vishwakarma Institute of Technology. The afternoon has been reserved for possible political meetings, during which the Prime Minister is expected to hold discussions with Mahayuti leaders about the upcoming state elections.
This meeting comes at a time when internal tensions are evident among the three parties within the alliance, and Modi’s role in unifying the coalition will be closely watched.
Later in the day, he will attend another "Viksit Bharat" event at Tukaram Jagannath College in Khadki. After concluding his Pune tour, he will head to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, marking the end of his two-day visit.
Ban on Private Aerial Flights in Pune District
Given Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Pune on September 26 and 27, the district administration has issued an order prohibiting private aerial activities for security reasons.
Activities such as paragliding, hot air balloon safaris, drones, and microlight airplane flights have been banned in Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the surrounding rural areas for the two-day period.
District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase issued the directive to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the Prime Minister's visit. Those found violating this order will face legal action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code 2023.
