Pune: The Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme has brought a new sense of joy and security to many women in Pimpri-Chinchwad, as they receive the keys to their own homes.
The scheme, aimed at providing affordable housing to economically weaker sections, is progressing with six projects planned across the region.
While flats in Charholi and Borhadewadi have already been allocated, the allocation process for Pimpri and Akurdi projects is nearing completion, and applications are currently being accepted for the Dudulgaon project.
Meanwhile, the Ravet project remains under legal review. Altogether, the six projects will provide a total of 4,858 flats.
The scheme has identified sites in Pimpri, Akurdi, Charholi, Dudulgaon, Borhadewadi in Moshi, and Ravet for housing projects. The allocation of flats in Charholi and Borhadewadi has already brought immense joy to the beneficiaries.
The projects in Pimpri and Akurdi have reached completion, and the distribution of flats is expected to begin soon. The Dudulgaon project, set to be completed by December 2026, is currently accepting applications from eligible families.
The project will offer 1,190 flats, with applications open until September 30 for economically weaker sections whose annual family income does not exceed 300,000 rupees and who do not own property elsewhere in India.
Applicants can apply online through the official website, providing necessary documents including income proof, caste certificate, Aadhaar and PAN cards, bank details, and residence proof.
A deposit of 10,000 rupees and a registration fee of 500 rupees are required at the time of application, with refunds available for those not selected.
Beneficiaries will contribute 1,414,173 rupees per flat, with the Central Government providing a subsidy of 150,000 rupees and the State Government providing 100,000 rupees per flat.
The Akurdi project will provide 568 flats, while the Pimpri project will offer 370 flats, with reservations available for General, SC, ST, and OBC categories.
Maya Pawar, who also moved into a flat in Borhadewadi, shared, "We used to live in a rented house in Chakrapani Colony, Bhosari. Now that we have our own home, the stress of not having a permanent place has eased. The peace and comfort of owning a home cannot be described in words."
