Pune: After the Pune Municipal Commissioner’s recent orders led to the immediate transfer of encroachment inspectors, an incident in Rasta Peth has raised concerns about non-compliance.

It was reported that some inspectors continue to operate in their previous jurisdictions, taking action against local vendors to clear pending work. A specific case in Rasta Peth brought to light allegations of misbehavior with women.

A family near the Apollo Cinema in Rasta Peth, engaged in the flower and garland business for over fifty years and holding a legitimate "A" category permit, reported that encroachment inspector Ramesh Londhe has been persistently taking action against them.

The family’s business operates from a stationary location, with a temporary roof built for protection. Despite this, Londhe allegedly aimed to allocate the spot to another handcart vendor and has been targeting the family, particularly during peak business periods like Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri.

Although Londhe was transferred to the Hadapsar Ward Office just two days ago, he returned to the same spot with his team this morning, demolishing the flower shop once more.

When the family protested, Londhe allegedly used abusive language and issued threats to the women and the young girl present.

In response, the family approached Additional Municipal Commissioner Somnath Bankar and Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Encroachment Department, filing a formal complaint.

Bankar acknowledged receiving the complaint and confirmed that he has taken immediate action by ordering a notice to be served to Ramesh Londhe. He assured that further steps would be taken once Londhe provides an explanation for his actions.
