Pune: In the wake of the ongoing controversy surrounding dismissed IAS trainee Puja Khedkar's fake disability certificates, a new case has emerged in the Pune Municipal Corporation, where seven engineers are accused of submitting fraudulent disability certificates to secure their jobs.
The complaint, which has raised concerns about the integrity of recruitment processes, has prompted the Municipal Corporation to take immediate action by initiating a formal investigation.
The complaint was lodged with the Disability Welfare Department, which revealed that several engineers employed in various departments of the Pune Municipal Corporation over the past year and in prior years had allegedly used fake disability certificates during their hiring process.
The severity of the accusations has led to a call for a comprehensive investigation, with demands that any engineers found guilty be terminated from their positions. Acting on this, the Disability Welfare Commissioner communicated with the Municipal Corporation, urging prompt action on the matter.
In response, the personnel department of the Municipal Corporation has recognized the gravity of the situation and submitted a proposal to the Commissioner seeking authorization to investigate the accused engineers.
The State Government has also been alerted to the issue, with similar complaints filed at the state level, prompting directives for appropriate measures from the authorities.
To address the situation decisively, Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P. has issued orders for the immediate submission of a preliminary report on the case to the General Administration Department.
The proposal for the investigation of the implicated engineers has been swiftly placed before the Municipal Commissioner for approval. Should the Commissioner authorize the investigation, it is expected that those found culpable will face stringent disciplinary actions, including possible dismissal from service.
