Pune: The Marathi medium teachers and employees of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) are planning a justice movement on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, led by the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Action Committee.

The protest stems from discontent regarding improper changes made to the service seniority list, which has allegedly sidelined the seniority of several teachers.

The Scheduled Castes and Tribes Action Committee has raised objections to these alterations, demanding that no promotions or adjustments be made until the seniority list is corrected.

The committee's primary demand is that teachers' rightful seniority be restored before any decisions regarding promotions or realignments are implemented.

Earlier, on October 10, the PMC's Education Department (Primary) issued a circular announcing the upcoming promotions of headmasters. The Action Committee has formally objected to this circular, expressing concern over the fairness of the promotion process in light of the discrepancies in the seniority list.

Several key members of the committee, including Archana Bhise, Deepak Hile, Rohidas Supe, Shashikant Dhumale, Gangadhar Jawale, Prafulla Kamble, Keshav Waghmare, Sandeep Bhavari, Santosh Dharade, Shashikant Bhise, and Shahaji Gorve, were present at the announcement of the protest.

Former MLA Jaydev Gaikwad has also extended his active support to the movement, backing the demands of the teachers and calling for immediate rectification of the seniority list.

The Action Committee's protest aims to ensure that the teachers' rights are protected and that justice is delivered regarding promotions and adjustments in the PMC.
