Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to launch a Complaint Redressal Cell in response to growing citizen frustration over unresolved grievances and delays in daily civic operations.

PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale announced the initiative, which aims to streamline the complaint process and ensure that issues are addressed promptly.

The Complaint Redressal Cell will be located in the main building of the PMC.

On designated days, heads of various departments, officers from regional offices, and Zonal Deputy Commissioners will be present at the cell to receive complaints from citizens.

These complaints will then be forwarded to the relevant departments for action. If citizens still wish to escalate their complaints, based on the seriousness and nature of the issue, it can be taken up with the Additional Commissioner. If the complaint remains unresolved, citizens will have the option to meet the Commissioner directly.

Despite the introduction of the "PMC Care" online complaint system by the municipal corporation, aimed at enabling citizens to file complaints from home, the system has proven ineffective.

Additionally, the PMC's helpline numbers have also failed to resolve issues, with many complaints being closed without resolution.

It may be noted that the Pune Municipal Corporation has 18 deputy commissioner positions, nine filled internally and nine by state deputation. The vacancies had led to work delays, now expected to be resolved with the new appointments recently announced.

Asha Raut (Zone 3 and Primary Education), Chetana Kerure (Zone 5), Prashant Thombre (Sky Sign and License Department), and Sunil Ballal (Cultural Department) have been newly appointed by PMC Commissioner.
