Pune: In a dramatic late-night rescue operation, police successfully saved a 14-year-old girl from being abducted by a 22-year-old man who had lured her with promises of marriage.
The swift action by Bavdhan Police’s Beat Marshal, who pursued the abductor’s vehicle from Chikhali to Shirwal, led to the arrest of the accused and the safe recovery of the minor.
The incident began around 2:30 AM when the accused, Wasim Abdulkarim Shah, a resident of Kohinoor Colony, Rupinagar, Chikhali, abducted the girl in a tempo (MH 14 KA 6548) after misleading her with false promises of marriage.
When the girl's relatives noticed her disappearance, they promptly alerted Chikhali Police Station. Recognizing the urgency, the police circulated the tempo's details via wireless to nearby police stations.
Bavdhan Police’s Beat Marshal spotted the tempo and initiated a high-speed chase. The suspect attempted to evade capture, but traffic slowed down near Shirwal due to ongoing road work.
