Pune: The chargesheet filed by Pune police in the Kalyaninagar Porsche car accident case has revealed that blood samples of not only the minor suspect, but two of his other friends were also tampered. This tampering was done in the restroom of Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) of Sassoon General Hospital.
On May 19, following a midnight accident in Kalyaninagar, the Yerwada police brought the 17-year-old driver and his two friends to Sassoon Hospital at 11:30 AM for substance abuse testing.
Dr. Shrihari Halanor, head of the casualty department, was on duty at that time. He prepared the medical case papers after inquiring if the three youths were experiencing any issues.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the forensic department, had already instructed Dr. Halanor. Accordingly, Halanor took blood samples from the minor driver and his two friends in the doctors' restroom adjacent to the CMO room.
Following this, blood samples from three other individuals were taken in the same room. The blood samples for the minor driver were from a woman, and for his two friends, samples from two other individuals were taken.
Subsequently, Dr. Halanor discarded the minor's and his friends' blood samples into the trash and sent the samples from the woman and two others for sealing.
Dr. Halanor had called trainee female doctors on duty that day at Sassoon Hospital to take the blood samples. After the female doctors arrived with the necessary equipment, Dr. Halanor took them to the CMO's restroom, where blood samples from a minor and a woman were taken.
At the same time, Halanor called another trainee female doctor to take the samples from three individuals and instructed them to bring the equipment.
Following his instructions, the female doctors arrived with the equipment and sat in the CMO room. However, Halanor then instructed them to bring dry cotton instead of alcohol swabs. The female doctors took the blood samples of the three individuals and handed them to Halanor.
Dr. Halanor took all the blood samples in the doctors' restroom adjacent to the CMO's cabin. Importantly, other individuals were also present there along with the minor.
Blood samples were taken from a woman and two others for the minor driver and his two friends. The female doctors arrived in the CMO cabin with dry cotton.
At that time, a woman, a boy, a police officer, and another individual were standing near the door. Halanor inquired about the blood group of the woman and the boy right there.
Consequently, individuals who came to tamper with the blood samples moved openly in the CMO's cabin in the presence of the police. Not only this, but they also entered the CMO's restroom to give blood samples and then left.
Sources indicated that the minor driver's parents, other relatives, and friends had coordinated with Dr. Taware to arrange for Dr. Halanor to tamper with the blood samples.
