Pune: In a remarkable story of determination and support, Pooja Gaikwad-Chougule, who comes from a background of severe poverty and laborer parents, has secured the prestigious position of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI).
Her journey is a testament to perseverance, as well as the unwavering support from her husband, who recognized her intelligence and insisted she aim high.
After five years of relentless effort, she not only cleared the examination but excelled, becoming the first woman from Vanevadi to achieve this rank.
Hailing from a modest family in Vanevadi, Baramati, Pooja’s academic journey began with limited resources, but she shone brightly with her intellect and determination.
She secured a spot in the top ten in the Scheduled Caste category in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s 2022 examination, scoring 256.50 marks.
Her success has sparked celebrations in her family, with tears of joy flowing in both her maternal and marital homes.
Pooja's educational journey started in a small Zilla Parishad school, and she went on to excel in her higher secondary studies before graduating with a first-class degree in Political Science.
Encouraged by her husband, she began preparing for the PSI examination at the Vivekananda Study Center in Karanjepul in 2019. Despite initial setbacks in the 2021 and 2023 examinations, Pooja’s determination never wavered, and she eventually succeeded in 2022 with the support and guidance of experienced mentors.
Her husband, Rahul, played a crucial role in her success, managing the household responsibilities and ensuring she had the resources to focus on her studies.
Despite his own limited education, Rahul’s insistence on Pooja aiming for a higher position and his constant support were pivotal in her achievement. Pooja’s story is one of triumph over adversity, showcasing the power of hard work and unwavering support.
