Pune: In a remarkable tale of perseverance and dedication, Prashant Baban Dangat, the son of a vegetable vendor couple from Nirgudsar in Ambegaon Taluka, has cleared the MPSC examination and secured a position as a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI). His success has brought immense pride to his family and community.
Prashant, who hails from a modest farming background, scored an impressive 349 out of 440 in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam, securing the sixth rank in the state.
The news of his achievement was celebrated with great enthusiasm in his village, with friends, family, and the Shriram Foundation joining in the festivities.
Prashant’s educational journey began at Zilla Parishad Primary School in Mengdewadi and continued at Ratnabhumi Vidyalaya in Ramji Nagar, Ghatkopar.
He completed his secondary education at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary and Higher Secondary School in Nirgudsar and later attended Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya and Annasaheb Awate College for his higher secondary education.
He holds a B.Sc. degree from Modern College, Pune, and an M.Sc. degree from Abeda Inamdar College, Pune. After completing a B.Ed., he briefly worked as a teacher at Genba Moze College.
Motivated by his friends and a growing interest in the police force, Prashant decided to prepare for the MPSC exams. Despite failing to qualify in his first attempt in 2020 by just four marks, he persisted and successfully cleared the exam in 2022.
Prashant’s journey is even more inspiring given his family’s financial constraints. His parents, who work as farmers and vegetable vendors, supported him unconditionally. Prashant dedicatedly studied in a library in Pune, relying on his friends for support and guidance.
Expressing his joy, Prashant said, “I achieved this success without attending any coaching classes, thanks to the unwavering support of my family and friends. Despite numerous challenges, I stayed committed to my goal, and today, I am thrilled to have fulfilled my parents' and my dreams.”
