Pune: Advocates Asim Sarode and Sandeep Lokhande have announced plans to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against several companies producing protein powders with misleading claims, which may adversely affect public health.

This issue, impacting public and social health, was highlighted in a seminar titled "Protein Powder Sales and Health Rights" organized by Law Lab Innovation and Sahyog Trust.

In the seminar, fitness expert Advocate Balkrishna Nidhalkar shared insights on "Life-threatening Diseases from Unnecessary Consumption of Incorrect Protein," stating, "Uncertified protein powder can lead to severe health issues, from kidney failure to heart disease, and even death. Creating an artificially impressive physique is not right."

Advocates Sarode and Lokhande emphasized that a PIL will be filed to address the issues of uncontrolled protein powder sales, companies violating food and drug department regulations, and the lack of enforcement of relevant laws.

The discussion also included participation from Advocates Ramesh Taru, Kishore Vark, Shilpa Shinde, Rishan Sarode, Kulsum Mullani, Sandhya Sonawane, and Akanksha Suplekar.
