Minister Mohol explained that the project will involve not only adding the new check-in counters but also revamping the arrival area of the old terminal.

This area will be connected to the new integrated terminal building via a bridge and repurposed as an extended departure area. To enhance security screening, new Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD) and X-ray machines will be installed.

Furthermore, the airport system will be integrated with the new terminal, and shopping lounges will be established as part of the upgrades.

The expansion is expected to cost an additional ₹25 crore and, once completed, will provide an extra 4,000 square meters of usable space. The completion date for these developments is set for March 2025.

The new terminal at Pune Airport, which became operational on July 14 this year, currently has 34 check-in counters and can accommodate up to 3,000 passengers during peak hours.

The addition of 16 new check-in counters at the old terminal is anticipated to significantly ease the flow of passengers, offering them a more comfortable travel experience.
