Pune Airport: Police Register Two Complaints in False Bomb Threats Case

Pune: Cases of false bomb threat messages targeting flights at Pune International Airport have been increasing, with recent incidents disrupting operations and causing distress among passengers.

In the latest development, two private airlines reported receiving messages claiming bombs were placed on seven different flights.

Shrikanth Chandrashekhar Wadgaonkar, 37, filed a complaint regarding the incident at the Airport Police Station. According to the complaint, an individual using the alias "Adam Alanza 1000" on social media is alleged to have sent the bomb threat to the official social media account of Indigo Airlines’ Gurugram office.

The message warned of bombs planted on specific flights, leading to a full security inspection of flights from Patna to Pune, Bengaluru to Pune, and Kolkata to Pune. Passengers were asked to deboard as a precaution, causing delays and service interruptions.

In a separate but similar incident, another message containing bomb threats was traced to an account named "2008 Bombing."

This account allegedly sent messages about bombs being placed on several flights, including Vistara Airlines' Singapore to Pune, Akasa Airlines' Kolkata to Pune, and Indigo Airlines’ routes from Pune to Jodhpur and Kolkata to Pune.

The Airport Police Station registered another case, and Police Sub-Inspector Karpe is currently leading the investigation into both incidents.

Recently, a major scare occurred at Pune airport after an anonymous threat to blow up 11 planes was reported, intensifying concerns over aviation security in the country.

The planes, bound for various domestic and international destinations, were threatened with bomb explosions, triggering widespread panic among passengers and airport authorities.
