Pune Airport is set to launch its winter schedule from Sunday, October 27, with a planned increase in the number of flights departing from the city. This includes five new domestic flight services and two international routes.
One of the key highlights is the new flight service to Bangkok, starting from November 22, along with additional domestic flights to Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram from October 27.
While the winter schedule has not yet been officially announced, sources at the airport have confirmed that seven new flight services will be introduced this season.
Among these, international services will connect Pune to Bangkok and Dubai. On the domestic front, flights to Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, and a few other cities are in the pipeline.
Pune’s current international services include flights to Dubai and Singapore. Once the Bangkok service begins, Thailand will be the third country connected directly to Pune by air. Furthermore, an additional flight service to Dubai will be launched, meaning Pune will have two daily flights to Dubai.
From Monday to Friday, Pune Airport has 218 available flight slots, but only 195 are currently being used. The remaining slots, which include early morning "Red Eye" flights, remain vacant.
On average, Pune Airport handles about 110 flights between 6 AM and 10 PM daily, with airlines requesting more slots during these hours, but due to heavy demand, no slots are available.
With an average of 95 daily takeoffs and 95 landings, Pune Airport currently handles a total of around 190 flight movements each day, accommodating approximately 35,000 passengers daily.
The upcoming winter schedule is expected to enhance flight availability and connectivity for travelers.
Airport Director Santosh Dhoke has confirmed that the new schedule will come into effect on October 27, though the exact cities that will receive new services are yet to be disclosed.
