Pune: A tragic accident occurred on the Pune-Solapur Highway yesterday morning when a truck collided with a car that had stopped on the roadside due to overheating.
The incident, which took place near the Sindhumai Hotel in Wakhari village, resulted in one person’s death and three others sustaining injuries.
The victims, traveling from Pune to Akkalkot for a religious visit, had pulled over to the side of the road and opened the bonnet of their Swift car to cool it down.
As they were standing by the car, a Hi-Way truck traveling from Pune towards Solapur crashed into the stationary vehicle from behind. The impact caused the car to collide with a container parked in front.
The complaint was filed with the Yavat Police by Ajit Borate, residing in Ganj Peth. Rohit Prakash Pokale (age 30, residing near Navale Bridge, Dhayari, Pune), traveling in the car, died at the scene.
The injured are Suraj Madhukar Petade (age 31, residing in Ganj Peth), Vijay Srinivas Kshir Sagar (age 33, residing in Katraj, Pune), and Ajit Borate.
According to Yavat police sources, the victims were traveling to Akkalkot in their Swift car. The car overheated and was parked on the side of the road in front of the petrol pump in Wakhari village with the bonnet open.
At that moment, a Hi-Way truck traveling from Pune towards Solapur crashed into the stationary car from behind, and then collided with a container parked in front.
Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Uttam Kamble under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Narayan Deshmukh.
