Pune: In response to the recent assault incident in Badlapur, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has organized a march in Pune on Saturday (August 24).

The march, which aims to highlight the safety of women and girls, will see participation from various political parties, social organizations, and a significant number of students and parents.

The MVA has called for a statewide shutdown, urging citizens across the country to join in solidarity. The march will commence at 10 a.m. from Lal Mahal, passing through Belbaug Chowk and Laxmi Road before concluding at Tilak Chowk with a rally.

Senior leaders, including Sushma Andhare of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), Congress leader Ulhas Pawar, former MP Vandana Chavan, and others, will address the gathering.

The MVA held a press conference on Friday (August 23), where leaders emphasized the importance of the march and encouraged widespread participation.

The MVA has given a call for Maharashtra Bandh to protest against the Badlapur school girl sexual assault incident. Due to the political agitations and bandh, public transport facilities, private vehicle movements is likely to be affected.

Several schools are closed on Saturday-Sunday, however, rest schools are yet to take a decision. Parents are advised to check with their wards respective school management regarding the school closure decisions and school transport arrangements.

Ambulances and medical services would not be affected or targeted during the bandh period in Pune and other parts of the state.
