Pune: Newly elected Member of Parliament from Pune Loksabha constituency, and now a Minister of State (MoS) Civil Aviation in the Central government, Murlidhar Mohol has asked Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to setup a dedicated task force with specialized human resources to tackle the drug menace in the city.
Meanwhile, CP Amitesh Kumar has taken action against the police officers at Shivajinagar police station under whose jurisdiction the L3 pub was operating late night.
Police Inspector (Crime) Anil Mane and Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Patil, both posted at Shivajinagar police station, have been suspended following revelations of drug consumption at the pub.
Mohol has posted on X the recent updates in the L3 - Liquid Leisure Lounge drug video case. Minister Mohol emphasized the need for rigorous searches and strict actions at all colleges, pubs, hotels, and suspicious locations. He also called for an in-depth investigation to trace the root cause of drug availability in Pune city.
In addition to the immediate suspensions, Minister Mohol stated that the Pune Police Commissioner has been directed to initiate a comprehensive anti-drug campaign across Pune. This campaign will include a dedicated task force and specialized manpower.
A shocking video of a party extending into the early hours, involving youths consuming narcotics in the bathroom of L3 - Liquid Leisure Lounge on FC Road had emerged on Sunday (June 23).
The viral video triggered immediate police action, leading to the arrest of five individuals, including the pub operator. The pub has since been sealed. Eight individuals have been charged in connection with the incident, with cases registered at Shivajinagar Police Station.
The charges encompass the bar owner, DJ, and manager, with four sections imposed against them.
