Pune Flood Situation Under Control, Precautionary Measures In Place

Pune: The overflow water from Khadakwasla, which had reached 35,000 cusecs, has now been reduced to 15,000 cusecs.

Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar stated that officials have been instructed to increase water discharge if necessary, as releasing water after 7 PM could cause problems for residents in low-lying areas.

The current inflow matches the outflow, but the capacity to store more water is being ensured in case of heavy rainfall at night.

Varasgaon, Panshet, and Temghar dams are 70% full and have additional capacity to store water, as does the Pavana dam, which is also 70% full. Water is being released through all dam canals, and lift irrigation schemes have been initiated. Efforts are being made to store water in all possible reservoirs.

Ajit Pawar reassured citizens that there is no need to panic as the rain has subsided. The army rescue team has been stationed in Ekta Nagar with 100 personnel, including engineers and doctors, along with four boats.

NDRF has 40 personnel and four boats on standby. All residents in Ekta Nagar have been safely relocated, and the municipal corporation has provided shelter for those without a place to stay.

Pune-Tamhini Road Blocked by Landslide, Efforts Underway to Clear Debris

In a separate incident, a large tree fell on a school van and a passing two-wheeler rider in Anand Park, Wadgaon Sheri. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the vehicles were significantly damaged.

The Pune District Collector has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges. Offices and other establishments in Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad have also been instructed to declare a holiday.
