Pune: A shocking case has emerged in Pune where a lawyer allegedly kidnapped the father of his friend over an unresolved financial dispute.

The lawyer, identified as Nitin Mhaske from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, was arrested after the victim’s family lodged a complaint at Hadapsar police station. Police have also registered a case against four to five accomplices who aided in the abduction.

The incident occurred recently in the vegetable market area of Hadapsar. A complaint was lodged at the Hadapsar police station by a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The complainant is a retired officer from the irrigation department. His son and Mhaske are friends, and they had financial dealings.

Mhaske had been demanding money from the complainant's son. Upon learning that the retired officer and his son were residing in the Hadapsar area, Mhaske, along with his accomplices, arrived there. On August 19, they kidnapped the complainant from the Hadapsar area.

Mhaske then contacted the complainant's son via his mobile phone and demanded a ransom of one crore rupees, threatening to release his father only if 60 lakh rupees were paid.

The retired officer was eventually released near the Waluj police station in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar area, and Mhaske and his accomplices fled. After returning to Pune, the complainant filed a report at the Hadapsar police station.

Advocate Madhav Vasantrao Nashikkar, was recently caught while accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 in a property registration case. The arrest took place outside the Mamledar Kacheri Office near Swargate on Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, following a complaint lodged by a man who had recently completed the purchase of a flat in his wife's name.
