Pune: A young man from Pune, named Dashrath Siddharam Gaikwad (also known as Vanraj Ashwin Deshmukh), has been arrested in Mumbai for repeatedly harassing a girl by sending her messages, making explicit videos, and sharing them on social media.

Gaikwad, 32, who resides in Santosh Nagar in Pune, used multiple social media accounts to chat with the girl. He frequently made video calls to her, captured obscene images, and distributed them, causing her defamation. He also abused the girl, her father, and her brother.

A complaint was lodged at the Ratnagiri Rural Police Station, and a case was registered on July 7 under IPC sections 500, 504, 506, and sections 66(e) and 67 of the IT Act, 2000.

Gaikwad had been on the run since the case was registered. Police received information that he was in the Deonar area of Chembur in Mumbai, leading to his arrest.

Gaikwad has confessed to the crime, and his mobile phone has been seized. Further investigations revealed that he had also engaged in similar activities with other girls, circulating their obscene photos on social media.

The operation was carried out by Police Inspector Nitin Dhere, Police Head Constable Vaibhav More, Bhairavnath Sawairam, Mandar Mohite, and Umesh Gaikwad of the Ratnagiri Rural Police Station.
