Pune Metro has enhanced its services with an increase in both the frequency and number of trips across its Aqua and Purple lines, coinciding with the inauguration of the Yerawada Metro Station on August 21, 2024.
To accommodate peak hour crowds, Pune Metro has reduced the interval between trains from 7.5 minutes to 7 minutes on both lines during morning and evening rush hours (8 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM).
This adjustment will result in an additional four trips on each line, offering more frequent service to passengers.
Previously, the Purple Line from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to District Court operated 113 trips, but starting from August 21, 2024, it will operate 117 trips. The Aqua Line from Vanaz to Ramwadi, which previously operated 114 trips, will now operate 118 trips.
During non-peak hours (6 AM to 8 AM, 11 AM to 4 PM, and 8 PM to 10 PM), the metro frequency will remain the same at 10 minutes.
On this occasion, Maha Metro's Managing Director, Shravan Hardikar (IAS), stated, "The increase in metro trips and frequency will benefit passengers. The waiting time at metro stations will be reduced, and with the addition of 8 more trips during peak hours on both lines, more citizens will be able to travel by metro."
