Pune Motorcyclist Arrested for Assaulting Traffic Cop in Pune

Pune: A motorcyclist was arrested by Bharti Vidyapeeth police after he assaulted a traffic officer who had stopped him for violating traffic rules. The incident occurred at the Katraj Bypass Junction on Friday morning around 10:45 AM.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ashish Ramchandra Chavan (37), residing at Chandrai Heights, Dhankawadi). Police constable Deepak Sadashiv Bhoir has filed a complaint with the Bharti Vidyapeeth police regarding the incident, which occurred on Friday around 10:45 AM at the Katraj Bypass Junction.

According to the police report, Deepak Bhoir was managing traffic at the Katraj Bypass Junction when Ashish Chavan, who was riding his motorcycle at high speed and in an erratic manner, was stopped for violating traffic rules.

When asked for his license and documents, Chavan responded with aggression and rude behavior, physically assaulting Bhoir. He kicked Bhoir multiple times, causing serious injury to his left knee, and also tore the pocket of Bhoir's uniform while threatening to kill him.

The police have registered a case for obstructing a public servant from performing his duties and have arrested Chavan. The investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Shende.

A week ago, a traffic policeman was assaulted by a motorist in Pune’s Hadapsar area, leading to the arrest of one individual and the filing of charges against two others.

The arrested suspect motorist in this case was identified as Maruti Rajaram Mane (22), a resident of Gopalpatti, Manjari. The incident took place in the Handewadi area when a traffic jam occurred, and the police were regulating the flow of vehicles.
