With Ganesh Chaturthi set to begin tomorrow, the volume of vehicles on the expressway has surged, resulting in heavy traffic jams. Many commuters, eager to celebrate the festival with their families, are struggling with slow-moving traffic that has brought parts of the expressway to a near standstill.

The congestion is exacerbated by travelers who, in an effort to avoid the jammed Mumbai-Konkan highway, have diverted to the Pune-Mumbai Expressway to reach the Konkan region. This has led to a substantial increase in the number of vehicles on the expressway, further intensifying the gridlock.

Highway authorities are currently managing the situation by releasing traffic towards Pune from Mumbai in 20-minute intervals from both lanes, while traffic from Pune to Mumbai has been temporarily stopped. Efforts by highway police are underway to alleviate the pressure and ease the flow of vehicles, but drivers are advised to expect delays and exercise patience.

Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternate routes if possible. The expressway authorities are on high alert, working to manage the influx and ensure the safety and convenience of all commuters during this busy festive season.
