Pune police have announced cash reward of ₹1 lakh for leads in the young woman murder and dismembered body case in Kharadi area of Pune.
Police have appealed informants to contact Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan on 9834864991, Police Inspector (Crime) Anil Mane on 9130012005, Assistant Police Inspector Lingade on 9767100812 or Chandannagar police station on 8830063114 or 020-27012321
The woman’s body, with severed limbs and head, was found by construction workers on Monday (August 26) morning, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities.
The Chandannagar police have announced a reward of one lakh rupees for any information leading to the identification of the victim or the arrest of the perpetrator.
Police suspect that the murder occurred two to three days ago, as the body did not show significant signs of decomposition when it was discovered by workers.
The Chandannagar Police and Pune Crime Branch have formed two teams to work on the case. They are currently reviewing missing persons reports from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad over the last 48 hours, hoping to identify the victim.
The recent heavy rains in Pune and the subsequent release of water from the Khadakwasla Dam may have carried the body from another part of the city, complicating the investigation.
The police face the challenge of not only identifying the victim but also determining the location of the murder, the motive behind it, and the identity of the perpetrator.
The assailant appears to have used a sharp weapon to sever the woman's head, arms, and legs in a bid to destroy evidence. The mutilated torso was then disposed of in the Mula-Mutha riverbed. It is estimated that the victim is in the age range of 18 to 30 years.
