Pune: Yerawada Police have finally arrested the container driver who ran over a motorcyclist and fled in the dark at Kalyaninagar Chowk on the Pune-Nagar Road, seven months after the incident.
To trace the driver, the police examined CCTV footage from over a hundred locations. Their efforts led to the successful identification and capture of the accused driver.
The arrested driver has been identified as Mohammad Asim Hatim Ansari (34, resident of Kunhara Kala, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand).
On January 20, in the Kalyaninagar area, a container hit a motorcycle from behind. In this accident, the motorcyclist Gaurav Khandare was seriously injured, and his friend Ishan Sunil Karwade (34), who was on the rear seat, was crushed under the container's wheels.
After the accident, the container driver Ansari fled the scene without stopping. Ishan died on the spot.
After the accident, the Yerawada Police began searching for the runaway container driver. Police officer Anil Shinde reviewed CCTV footage from over a hundred locations.
Upon identifying the container's number, the police traced the owner through RTO records. It was discovered that Ansari was driving the container at the time of the accident. Subsequently, the police apprehended Ansari.

police personnel Datta Shinde, Tushar Kharade, Kiran Ghute, Sagar Jagdale, Anil Shinde, Suraj Ombase, Dattatray Shinde, Prashant Kamble, Sushant Bhosale, Vitthal Ghule, and Vishal Nilakh.
