Pune Railway Station Flooded, Passengers Struggle Amid Waterlogged Platforms

Pune: Pune Railway Station faced severe waterlogging as continuous heavy rains left its entrance and platforms submerged on Sunday (August 18) evening.

Passengers were forced to wade through knee-deep water, carrying their luggage, just to access the station. Once inside, they met with leaking platforms, adding to the safety concerns.

The deteriorating condition of Pune Railway Station has been a persistent issue for several years, particularly during the monsoon season. Over the past two days, heavy rainfall has exacerbated the problem, leading to significant water accumulation within the station premises.

Passengers are finding it challenging to maintain their balance while managing their belongings, as they navigate through the waterlogged station.

In addition to the flooded entrance, many platforms within the station have become slippery due to rainwater leakage. This has heightened the risk of accidents, especially as passengers rush to board their trains.

Social media has been flooded with complaints from passengers, accompanied by photos and videos showcasing the difficulties faced while entering and exiting the station.

The railway administration has attributed the waterlogging to the increased height of the road outside the station entrance. They have acknowledged the issue and stated that measures are being taken to address it.

However, concerns about the safety of passengers, particularly children and the elderly, remain high as the platforms continue to pose a significant risk.

Despite repeated requests for repairs and improvements to the station's infrastructure, passengers feel that their concerns have been largely ignored by the railway authorities.
