Pune Rainfall Eases, Halting Khadakwasla Dam Discharge

The total water storage in the Khadakwasla cluster dams is 26.07 TMC, which is 89.45% capacity.

Pune: The continuous rainfall in the Panshet, Warasgaon, and Temghar areas has eased since Sunday (August 4) afternoon, resulting in a reduction in dam discharge. The discharge from Khadakwasla dam was completely halted at 9 PM on Monday (August 5).

From 5 PM on Sunday to 5 PM on Monday, only 1 mm of rainfall was recorded at Khadakwasla, while Panshet and Warasgaon received 13 mm and 10 mm of rain respectively.

Temghar received 19 mm of rain. The continuous rainfall that had been ongoing for the past few days has now reduced, leading to an immediate effect. At 11 PM on Sunday, the discharge from Warasgaon and Panshet dams was 12,500 cusecs, which was reduced by about 2000 cusecs.

Subsequently, at 9 AM on Monday, the discharge from Khadakwasla was reduced from 45,000 cusecs to approximately 36,000 cusecs. Thus, the discharge from Khadakwasla dam was completely stopped at 9 PM on Monday, at which time the dam was at 53.78% capacity.

The discharge from Warasgaon dam was fully stopped at 1 PM on Monday, and currently, only 600 cusecs are being discharged for power generation. Warasgaon dam is filled to 90.12% capacity, i.e., 11.55 TMC.

The discharge from Panshet dam was reduced to 3000 cusecs for irrigation and 600 cusecs for power generation at 5 PM on Monday. Panshet dam is at 91% capacity, i.e., 9.69 TMC.

The discharge from Temghar dam is 1273 cusecs, and it is at 100% capacity, i.e., 3.11 TMC. The total water storage in the Khadakwasla cluster dams is 26.07 TMC, which is 89.45% capacity.
