Pune: A group of 120 students and 20 accompanying adults from a Pune school faced an unexpected delay during their educational trip to Delhi and Jalandhar when they got caught in heavy traffic while traveling from Jalandhar to Delhi Airport.
The traffic delay threatened their scheduled flight back to Pune, but timely intervention from Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, ensured their safe return.
Organized by the Punekars Education Initiative, the group had a return flight scheduled for 8:20 PM on Wednesday (October 16).
The group left Jalandhar by bus at 7:30 AM to reach Delhi Airport two hours before departure. However, around 25 kilometers from the airport, the bus was caught in a traffic jam, putting the group at risk of missing their flight
Leena Mhasavade, representing the Punekars Education Initiative, immediately contacted Minister Mohol's Pune office. The minister's personal assistant coordinated with their Delhi office, leading to rapid action. Within ten minutes, Indigo Airlines reached out, taking details of the group and their exact location.
Despite the traffic, the buses eventually reached the airport. Indigo Airlines arranged seats for some of the students on a 9:15 PM flight and others on an 11:30 PM flight.
The airline staff provided additional assistance for the security checks, ensuring a smooth boarding process. Thanks to the swift response from Minister Mohol's office, all the students safely returned to Pune late Wednesday night.
