Pune: The city continues to witness a series of accidents, with two fatalities reported in separate incidents in the Lohegaon area.

In the first accident, a 73-year-old woman, Shantabai Kerba Modak, was struck by a car while standing in the front yard of her house in Wadki Bazaarmala village, on Hadspar-Saswad Road. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM on July 3.

The car driver fled the scene after the collision. Modak, who suffered severe injuries, succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The Lohegaon police have registered a case against the driver, with Police Sub-Inspector Tarte investigating the matter.

In a second incident, a pedestrian was killed when a speeding tempo hit him on the Pune-Solapur Road in Lohegaon on Sunday morning. The identity of the deceased pedestrian has not yet been determined.

A case has been filed against the tempo driver, and Police Naik Mahesh Kare has reported the incident to the Lohegaon police station. Police Sub-Inspector Birajdar is handling the investigation.

Additionally, on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Outer Ring Road, a pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car. The pedestrian’s identity remains unknown.

The victim sustained severe head injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. A case has been filed against the car driver, Preetvardhan Diwakar Sharma (24, resident of Godrej Society, Hinjewadi).

Police Naik Santosh Shende has reported the incident to the Singhad Road police station, with Police Constable Kumbhar investigating the case.
