Pune Traffic Improvement project will be implemented by the city traffic police branch from August 15.
Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil presented the 'Traffic Improvement Project' at a meeting held in the Bund Garden Road area on Friday (2nd August). The current traffic situation and necessary measures for improvement on 32 major roads in the city were discussed.
The city's major roads are plagued by traffic congestion and accidents due to the increased number of vehicles exceeding capacity, encroachments, potholes, bottlenecks, and unnecessary speed breakers. To find a studied 'solution' to these issues, efforts are being made with the help of the Municipal Corporation, police administration, and NGOs, informed Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil.
During this meeting, Patil addressed the concerns of residents from areas like Boat Club, Koregaon Park, and Kalyaninagar. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar was also present.
The meeting was organized by Lila Poonawalla Foundation trustee Roda Mehta, social activist Saathi Nair, and Dr. Neeta Munshi. Traffic analysts and citizens from Koregaon Park, Boat Club, and Kalyaninagar areas were present.
