Pune: In a case involving allegations of domestic violence, financial harassment, and child abduction, the Swargate Police have registered a case against an NRI husband and his parents, along with one other individual.

According to the complaint, the woman was married to Chandrashekhar Mahale in 2005 and briefly worked as a management consultant in India and the USA, while her husband was an IT engineer.

In 2006, they jointly purchased a flat in Pune, but her husband allegedly began subjecting her to abuse soon after, sending her back to India for house-related work, which disrupted her career. She claims that this led to prolonged physical and mental abuse, for which a prior case had been registered in Kolhapur in 2017.

The situation escalated when the husband moved their two daughters to the USA under the guise of schooling and prevented the mother from seeing them.

The woman alleges that her husband and in-laws repeatedly threatened her with harm if she refused to drop the case. She further claimed that they confiscated her educational certificates and gold jewelry.

On June 25, 2024, while at a bank in Wakdewadi to retrieve house documents, the woman was allegedly threatened by her husband, father-in-law, and another accomplice, who reportedly said, "How is she still alive? She should be dealt with."

The victim has appealed to the Government of India, seeking justice for the abuse and the alleged abduction of her daughters, asserting that the accused have violated both international law and her basic human rights.
