Pune: As the city immerses itself in the vibrant celebrations of the Sharadiya Navratri festival, the enthusiasm among the youth is particularly evident in the lively Garba and Dandiya events taking place across Pune.

Over the past few years, the number of such events has consistently risen, and this year is no exception, with daily festivities being held in various neighborhoods.

Currently, between 100 and 150 Garba and Dandiya programs are taking place each day, attracting young participants dressed in traditional attire. These events are hosted in multiple venues, including lawns, hotels, open grounds, auditoriums, clubs, and residential societies.

Participants are adorning themselves in traditional outfits, such as intricately decorated ghagras, turbans, and dhotis, often embellished with decorative elements like glass pieces and pearls. While some attendees opt to rent their attire, others prefer to purchase their outfits.

The events feature traditional Garba songs alongside popular film numbers, with many organizers bringing in renowned DJs to enhance the festive atmosphere. In addition, well-known actors and social media personalities are being invited to join the celebrations as 'celebrities,' adding to the excitement.

These vibrant festivities typically kick off around 6 or 7 PM and can extend until 10 PM or even midnight at select locations. Some organizers have also introduced the concept of offering dinner along with the dance events, incorporating the meal fee into the ticket prices, which range from ₹500 to ₹3,000. Discounts are available for group bookings.

Sampada Nikam, a participant, shared her experience: "I attended a Garba event in Karvenagar with some of my friends. Dancing together to traditional songs is a unique joy. That's why we participate every year."
