Pune: Purushottam Karandak theatre competition, organized by Maharashtra Kalopasak Institute, is set to enter its final stage on Saturday, September 21.
The competition, which showcases the talents of college students across the state, will see nine teams from various colleges vying for the coveted Purushottam Karandak (Trophy).

The second and third sessions are scheduled for Sunday morning (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and evening (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.). After the intense competition, the winners will be announced late Sunday night.
This year holds special significance as it marks the birth centenary of Rajabhau Natu, the visionary founder of the Purushottam Karandak competition. Additionally, 2024 is the 59th year of this esteemed theatre festival, which has nurtured countless talents over the decades.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 28, at 5 p.m. at the same venue, Bharat Natya Mandir. The awards will be presented by veteran playwright CP Deshpande, who will honor the winning teams and individuals for their outstanding theatrical performances.
The competition, known for its emphasis on creativity and theatrical excellence, will feature nine plays from various colleges across Maharashtra. These colleges have earned their spots in the final round through a series of preliminary competitions and will be presenting original, innovative one-act plays.
