Pune: A tragic accident claimed the lives of a mother and son, while a married daughter was critically injured in a rickshaw crash on Sunday (October 13) night around 9 PM in Ranjane village (Rajgad Taluka).
The victims were identified as Shalan Pasalkar (65) and her son, Deepak Pasalkar (45), residents of Daund in Pune district. Their daughter, Kavita Maral (40), who lives in Kanand village, was seriously injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.
According to local authorities, the Pasalkar family had traveled to Kanand to visit their daughter. While returning to Pune via the Pabe Ghat route, their rickshaw met with an accident within the limits of Ranjane village.
Heavy rains earlier in the day had caused a large tree to fall across the road. It is believed that their rickshaw collided with the railing of a small bridge near the fallen tree, leading to the fatal crash.
Dr. Swagat Rinde of Khanapur immediately alerted the local disaster management team, which responded swiftly. The team, led by members Tanaji Bhosale, Ganesh Sapkal, Sandeep Solaskar, Sanjay Choraghe, Neelkanth Lohkare, and Kailas Darvatkar, worked diligently to remove the fallen tree and clear the road for traffic.
As of late Sunday night, the police were still conducting a formal investigation at the scene.
Earlier on Sunday (October 13) morning, a bee attack near the Balekilla area of Rajgad Fort had injured 25 to 30 tourists, while three tourists from Mumbai narrowly escaped severe harm due to timely help from a group of visitors from Baramati.
