Pune: Ramgiri Maharaj, head of the Sadguru Gangagiri Maharaj Sansthan from Sarala Bet, Ahmednagar, has issued a stern warning, threatening a massive agitation if the Daund Municipal Council does not shut down the slaughterhouse it has constructed along the Bhima River.

The Daund Municipal Council had spent ₹2.32 crore to establish the slaughterhouse in Khatik Galli, but local religious leaders and activists are demanding its demolition.

The protest, led by Shri Shirish Maharaj More, saw a large turnout of supporters from the Warkari community and other Hindu organizations. Following the march, a public assembly was held where Ramgiri Maharaj addressed the crowd.

He emphasized the importance of enforcing the ban on cow slaughter, stating, “The slaughter of cows must stop, or indigenous cow breeds will be wiped out. Despite receiving death threats for my past statements, I remain steadfast in my dedication to religion.

The one who commits atrocities is guilty, but the one who tolerates them is equally at fault. We must not tolerate these wrongs any longer.”

Shirish Maharaj More echoed these sentiments, criticizing the failure to shut down slaughterhouses where cow killings are still taking place. “The slaughterhouse in Daund should be converted into a gym, hospital, or cultural center. If the government does not announce its closure within a month, we will demolish it ourselves,” More declared.
