Refusal to Share Mobile Hotspot Led to Finance Agent's Murder

Police arrested 20-year-old Mayur Bhosale, a resident of Vetalbaba Colony in Hadapsar and three other minors in this case.

Pune: Investigations into the brutally murder of finance agent Vasudev Ramchandra Kulkarni have further revealed that the minor suspects hacked Kulkarni to death over his refusal to let them use the hotspot internet connection feature through his mobile phone.

The tragic event had occurred around 10:30 PM on Sunday (September 1) night, when 47-year-old Kulkarni, a resident of Utkarshnagar and a DSA with private bank, stepped out for a stroll in his neighborhood.

While walking along the footpath in the Utkarshnagar area, he was approached by a group of minors who asked to use his mobile’s hotspot. When Kulkarni refused, a heated argument ensued.

The minors, who are reported to have a history of criminal behavior, escalated the situation by attacking Kulkarni with a machete, resulting in severe injuries.

An alert citizen who found Kulkarni lying in a pool of blood on the footpath immediately contacted the police control room. Despite the quick response and Kulkarni’s immediate transfer to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead before any medical assistance could be provided.

Upon learning of the incident, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare from Hadapsar police station arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation.

The police quickly launched an investigation and detained four suspects, including three minors and 20-year-old Mayur Bhosale, a resident of Vetalbaba Colony, Hadapsar.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to attacking Kulkarni with a machete after the disagreement over the mobile hotspot. The police clarified that Kulkarni had no prior acquaintance with the suspects.

The incident has highlighted the growing concern over juvenile delinquency and the need for increased vigilance. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare.
