Pune: The Pune regional finals of the prestigious "Sakal Karandak" Intercollegiate One-Act Play Competition concluded with captivating performances by college teams from across the region.

The event, marked by artistic excellence and enthusiastic audience engagement, has set the stage for the grand finale on December 1.

Sponsored by Ranjekar Realty and Buldhana Urban Co-op Credit Society, the competition featured a diverse range of plays highlighting themes of resilience, relationships, and human struggles. The winning team will represent the Pune division in the upcoming finale.

The following plays were performed during the regional finals:

Tikaram Jagannath College, Khadki, presented "Firyaad":

Written and directed by Nikhil Vairagar, this play showcased the struggle of a young man and his village in their fight to build a temple.

Shankarrao Chavan Law College performed "Moon Without Sky":

Authored by Prajakta Deshmukh and directed by Pranav Sapkale and Mukul Dhekle, the play depicted the tragic journey of Helen and Leo, two individuals being taken to a Nazi concentration camp.

MIT-World Peace University, School of Liberal Arts, presented "Abhang":

Written by Irfan Mujawar and directed by Samruddhi Dhage, the play highlighted the story of a friend saving a young man from suicide and inspiring him to embrace life positively.

Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce performed "Kavya’s Aspirations":

Written by Ojas Attarde and Anand Mule, and directed by Ojas Attarde, the play narrated the innocent story of a poet and his sister.

Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) performed "The Math of Twenty":

Authored by Yatin Majire and directed by Santoshi Kulkarni, the play illustrated the ups and downs of a friendship between two women.

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology presented "Yeh Kaha Aa Gaye Hum..."

Written by Soham Metkar and directed by Shravani Nirmale, the play explored the highs and lows that relationships inevitably face.
