Pune: Persistent issues with water supply in Katraj are fueling growing frustration among residents, who have reported frequent disruptions following scheduled maintenance work at the local water purification and pumping station.

Despite regular Thursday closures for repairs, water supply is often not restored until Saturday (August 24), leading to widespread discontent.

Municipal officials attribute the problem to recurring breakdowns at the pumping station. However, residents like Arvind More, President of Silver Oak Society, question why permanent solutions are not being implemented during routine maintenance, resulting in sudden and repeated failures.

The lack of essential services such as reliable water supply and proper roads has caused significant inconvenience, prompting calls for a large-scale protest if the issues remain unresolved.

Furthermore, residents have criticized the municipal corporation for failing to provide timely water tanker services during these outages and for not communicating with citizens about repair delays.

Nandkumar Kamalapure stressed the need for a system to inform residents about water supply interruptions, while Shashikant Dombe of Sukhsagarnagar expressed frustration over the lack of attention from both local representatives and the administration.

Compounding the issue are complaints about power supply interruptions, which exacerbate delays in completing repairs. Hemant More, Executive Engineer of the Swargate Water Supply Division, explained that the use of electric equipment during repairs often leads to power cuts, further delaying the restoration of water services.
